Abstract: |
In order to integrate scattered farmers into the ecological environment management system and realize the transformation and innovation of sustainable environmental management mode in rural areas. Based on the research logic of cognitive social capital in farmers′ environmental governance participation behavior, and the survey data of Chongzhou city, Sichuan province, this paper employed multiple Logit models to compare and analyze the influences of cognitive social capital at the individual and village levels on farmers′ participation in environmental governance by taking straw resource utilization as an example. The results showed that cognitive social capital helped to explain the differences in farmers′ straw treatment methods. Cognitive social capital at the individual level had a significantly positive impact on the choice of farmers′ straw resource utilization, while the negative impact of cognitive social capital at the village level was not significant. At the individual level, institutional trust, norms and pro environmental values had significantly positive impacts on farmers′ adoption of straw resource utilization, while the impact of the cooperative vision had been significantly negative. At the village level, public trust and pro environmental values had significantly negative impacts on farmers′ straw returning behavior, while the normative impact was significantly positive. So, cognitive social capital has a strong explanatory power for the choice of farmers′ straw treatment methods, thus contributing to the relief of rural ecological environment problems. |
