Abstract: |
The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of family assets and social interaction on rural residents' subjective well-being, so as to provide theoretical supports as well as practical recommendations for improving rural residents' subjective well-being. Based on the data of China Household tracking survey (CFPS) in 2018, the OLS and O-Probit models were used to investigate the impact of family assets and social interaction on rural residents' subjective well-being. In addition, it further explored the regulatory role of social interaction in family assets on rural residents' subjective well-being. The analyses revealed that the increase of housing assets, non-housing assets, and risk-free financial assets in family assets and the improvement of social interaction had a positive and significant impact on rural residents' subjective well-being. Moreover, a high degree of social interaction could not only significantly improve the subjective well-being of rural residents caused by housing assets, non-housing assets, and risk-free financial assets, but also effectively alleviate the negative effect of risky financial assets on the subjective well-being of rural residents. In addition to risky financial assets, the increase of other family assets and the improvement of social interaction could increase the probability of rural residents feeling "very happy"; social interaction played a positive and significant regulatory role in family assets on rural residents' subjective well-being; Thus, this paper concludes that, the increase in family assets is easier to improve their subjective well-being in the eastern or western regions, in middle-income families, and the older generation of rural residents. Therefore, protecting rural residents' housing assets, narrowing the urban-rural income gap, accelerating rural infrastructure construction, and encouraging and supporting rural residents' entrepreneurship are important measures to improve rural residents' subjective well-being. |
