Abstract: |
This study analyzes the research status, current hotpots, and development trends of crop straw fertilization in China and other countries all over the world, and summarizes the main problems arising in related fields, which can inform the development of straw fertilizer utilization in China. Relevant articles published between 1999 and 2019 were downloaded from the Web of Science and the Chinese Science Citation Database. And Gephi software was used to conduct an visual bibliometric analysis in order to analyze and compare the research strengths, hotspots, and evolution trends in straw fertilizer utilization. The results were showed as follows. (1) The number of relevant papers published in non-Chinese journals increased rapidly year-on-year after 2006. However, the number of relevant papers published in Chinese journals stabilized after 2016. (2) The research institutions with the largest number of relevant papers published in non-Chinese journals were the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service, and Agriculture and Agri-food Canada. The research institutions with the largest number of relevant papers published in Chinese journals were Northwest A&F University, Nanjing Agriculture University, and Gansu Agriculture University. (3) Regarding non-Chinese journals, the top three journals in terms of the number of relevant papers published were Soil and Tillage Research, Soil Biology and Biochemistry, and the Agronomy Journal. Among them, Soil Biology and Biochemistry had the highest average citation rate (52.5 citations per paper). In the Chinese Science Citation Database, the top three journals in terms of the number of relevant papers published were Transactions of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, the Journal of Agro-environment Science, and Agricultural Research in the Arid Areas. Among them, Transactions of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering had the highest average citation rate (14.5 citations per paper). (4) Cross-sectoral research on straw utilization methods, and the ecological and economic benefits of straw fertilizer utilization was currently a hot topic in Chinese and non-Chinese research publications. During the study period, the non-Chinese literature focused on the impact of straw fertilization on soil carbon fixation and greenhouse gas emissions, while the Chinese literature focused on the impact of straw fertilization on crop yields and soil nutrients. In summary, under the influence of comprehensive national straw utilization policies, the quantity and quality of papers published in the straw fertilization field needs to be greatly improved. This is because there are various problems relating to utilization patterns and returning effects evident in the use of straw fertilization in China. This study outlines the development direction of direct straw returning, straw carbonization returning, and straw organic fertilizer returning to fields. Summarizing such disparate information will provide important reference for achieving carbon neutrality as well as green and sustainable development in agriculture. |
