Abstract: |
Effectively incentivizing farmers to participate in forestry stock cooperatives is crucial for accelerating the development of these cooperatives, promoting the reform of the collective forest rights system, and better realizing the new development concept that "Lucid waters and lush mountains are equivalent to mountains of gold and silver." Based on the theoretical analysis of farmers' cognition of participation in forestry stock cooperatives, 790 farmer data in typical areas of Sichuan province were used for empirical test by using binary Logit and IV-Probit models. The results were showed as follows. Farmers' ecological cognition, benefit cognition, policy cognition and social norms had positive effects on the participation behavior of forestry stock cooperatives, while risk cognition had negative effects on the participation behavior of forestry stock cooperatives. In terms of the degree of influence, they were ranked as follows: Ecological cognition policy cognition risk cognition social norms benefit cognition. Further analysis showed that there was significant heterogeneity in farmers' participation in forestry stock cooperatives. Middle-aged and elderly farmers were more likely to be influenced by benefit cognition and policy cognition, while young farmers were more likely to be influenced by social norms. Therefore, improving farmers' cognition is helpful to encourage the participation of forestry stock cooperatives. Strengthening the publicity efforts of forestry stock cooperatives, diversifying the enhancement of farmers' cognition policy awareness, reducing risk expectations, and further leveraging the role of government policy promotion and farmers' ecological rationality are important measures to release the vitality of forestry stock cooperatives' participation behavior. |
