Abstract: |
Under the background of global climate change, the geopolitical conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and the post-pandemic era's impact on the global food supply chain, it is crucial to understand the relationship between rural labor migration and food security, as well as the latest research progress in this field. This research was based on 468 research papers from authoritative domestic and international journals on rural labor migration and food security from 2000 to the first half of 2023. And it employed CiteSpace software to visually analyze the development trends, hotspots, and frontiers of research both domestically and internationally. Meanwhile, NVivo software was used to perform content analysis of China's studies and construct a three-level coding system. Results showed that studies on rural labor migration and food security had distinct phases and asynchrony both domestically and internationally. The collaborative networks among authors exhibited a "decentralized, yet small-scale concentrated" distribution feature. From the perspective of research hotspots, China's studies had shifted from focusing solely on the singular impact of rural labor migration on food security to exploring multidimensional influences, while international studies had paid more attention to the impacts of migration and climate change on food security. In terms of research frontiers, eliminating hunger, addressing climate change, and managing unexpected factors on the global food supply chain were more interesting topics for the international community. Meanwhile, research priorities of China over some time in the future were actively practicing the Big Food Concept, advancing the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, and achieving more balanced and healthier sustainable food security. Combined with international development trends and China's specific conditions, further research could focus on strategic, international, and intelligent direction, to promote the coordinated and sustainable development of rural labor migration and food security in the future. |
